After the dust settled from the MHRA-ROAR west coast championships one thing was clear. It had been a great race for Tim Smith Racing.

The highlights of the weekend mostly centered around the 10.5 ROAR spec class where Tim top qualified the class, set the track and national record for elapsed time and MPH from the old record of 2.05 seconds at 60 mph to an astounding 1.77 seconds at over 73 mph! Tim also went on to win the finals over TS Racing team driver and #2 qualifier Gabe Hernandez.

Tim also #2 qualified in the 3 cell "Top Fuel" class but due to a mechanical failure was eliminated in the semi final round.

The staff at TS Racing would like congratulate Tim and Gabe on a great race and also wish to thank all our wonderful sponsors and support that make this all possible.

After looking at the up coming season filled with races TSRacing decided it was just too much for one man to handle and  it was time to add a driver to the mix. With Gabe's experience in ISC speed run racing we are confident he has the ability to make his mark in the RC drag racing world as well.

*ROAR to join forces with MHRA drag racing in 2010 season

**With the joining of ROAR and MHRA a new “spec” drag class has been announced. The new class will be a 10.5 ROAR approved sensored motor and single 7.4V ROAR approved lipo hard case. TSRacing will field two cars in this inaugural class this season.

**ROAR and MHRA join forces to bring drag racing to a world stage.

With the help of Rubin Benitez, ROAR’s competition director, Drag Racing will be sanctioned by ROAR for 2010 and beyond. Rules have been submitted and approved. They should be posted sometime mid January 2010.

The biggest part of this is it allows tracks to become ROAR sanctioned tracks and take part of the affordable insurance policy they have. It also makes us part of a global organization. ROAR is a division of IFMAR which is the worldwide org for RC racing.

If you are a track promoter or owner contact ROAR for sanctioning paper work. If you are a racer contact ROAR and join. http://www.roarracing.com/

Tim Smith breaks milestones and records at the ISC Ultimate Speed run in Fontana CA~!

When the dust settled after the USR 09 two milestones in the RC world had been set. The first is Tim piloting his 2wd stock entry to not only a new ISC speed record of 101 mph but also becoming the first RC driver to ever attain the 100 mph mark in any 7.4v vehicle.

Not to be out done Tim set out to shatter the old electric modified record of 97 mph. His run of 116 mph was enough to take the record but by the time the weekend ended Tim set the bar even higher by laying down a run of 126.5 mph also becoming the driver of the fastest 2wd RC vehicle on the planet!

We would like to thank our sponsors who are the real reason for all our success.

Tim Smith Racing Wins at the ISC event and sets a new world Speed record~!

Thanks to the awesome support of my sponsors Team Novak, MaxAmps batteries and Grand MotorSports Chassis. I was packed up and shipped off to Rockingham North Carolina for the ISC Speed Challenge.

Well I am very pleased to tell you (all the glory goes to God) we were able to not only Win the scale electric class (7.4v single 540 motor) at the event but break the existing speed record by just over 10 mph~! And bring the title of worlds fastest scale car home.

The track was an extremely pull your shoes off kind of sticky surface but for reasons I still don’t fully understand was like running on slippery glass when using clean foam tires not only for me but for everyone. Crazy weird… I could run full throttle down the bumpy dirty return road but if you tried the same thing on the track it would just spit you out like a watermelon seed.

I tried a few things that had produced more then 12 passes over 100 mph peaking at 121 mph here at home on a dusty parking lot but this surface was having none of it. The day was getting late and time was running out so I finally decided that I needed to just act like it was a dragstrip and goop my tires, hammer the throttle and see what happens... Well I made one pass this way and it was the record breaking pass.

My cars are currently on their way to the iHobby show in Chicago to be displayed in the Novak and MaxAmps booths and will be featured in an upcoming issue of RC Driver in a tell all show all article exposing all the bits and pieces I used to break this record.

Yellow Rocket from the past~!

The car is new but the paint design is from long ago. When asked by Mike Ogle head Honcho at GMS, what I would like the new car to look like I said “Remember that yellow one you did for me back in about 1988, I loved that car.” and the next thing I knew a box arrived containing a paint job all the way from 1988~!

The newest team car was not only created for the drag strip but also with the idea of running in this years ISC RC speed challenge in an attempt to become not only one of the quickest cars on the planet but the fastest too.

Featuring: The new GMS wheelie bar system Novak motor and esc, MaxAmps lipo cells and the Spektrum DX3R system it’s easy to see why we are so excited to add this car to our team.
